All that you should know about baby quilts
It is the polyester inside the baby quilts that ensures that these quilts remain soft as well as fluffy. It is the batting inside the baby quilts that provides the fluffiness as well as warmth to your baby. A high loft batting indicates that the filling is thick, while low loft indicates that the filling is thin. Depending entirely on your requirements, you can select different lofts of batting. Using low loft baby quilts as the primary quilt for your baby is not advisable. These you can simply place on top of your baby’s main cover. They have more of aesthetic and security purposes. These are not designed for providing warmth. In general, in case you are looking for just one cover for your child, it’s best to go with baby quilts having high loft batting.
You can choose to go for cotton or wool instead of polyester. This is perfectly alright as before the invention of synthetic materials; the quilt batting was being made exclusively out of cotton or wool. In fact polyester batting has become much more popular due to its price and efficiency.
It is also possible for you to make baby quilts on your own. All the supplies that you need making baby quilts patterns will be available in your linen closet or scrap materials from your past projects. You can make use of plaid flannel, cut cotton pieces from old shirts, dresses, skirts or anything else that you and your family have outgrown.
